Sioux Falls Master Windshield brings windshield replacement in Canton, SD, right to your driveway on our Tuesday and Thursday van runs. We fill chips and calibrate lane cameras there too, and RV and semi windshields go in at our heated shop, about 30 minutes north. Route days cost the shop price.
Canton's the Lincoln County seat, a river town of 3,066 people looking across the Big Sioux at Beloit, Iowa. It's one of the oldest towns in our area. A lot of its traffic rides US 18, which SDDOT counted at over 4,500 vehicles a day in 2018, more than 13% of them trucks. Here's what keeps the Canton van busy:
Why Canton Glass Breaks: Trucks, Rails and River Roads
Highway 18 is the big one. SDDOT spent two years turning the eight miles between I-29 exit 62 and Canton into a divided four-lane, a $45.6 million project finished in 2025. The orange barrels are gone now. The trucks are not. Grain, gravel and freight still roll on 18 every day, and the railroad still hauls freight through town.
Trucks on the four-lane
A loaded truck at 65 throws gravel a surprising distance. The new four-lane gives you room to back off, so take it. In our experience most of the Canton chips we fill came from tailgating a gravel hauler on 18.
Gravel toward Newton Hills
About six miles south of town is Newton Hills State Park, and a few of the roads around it are still gravel. Summer campers and pickups towing boats come home with plenty of chips from out there.
Older cars in an older town
Canton has plenty of cars that have been in the family a long time, parked on the street or tucked into single-stall garages. Old windshields get sandblasted and pick up a chip or two over the years. On the first below-zero morning, that's a thermal shock crack just waiting for the defroster.
Our Canton Route Days
Canton is about 25 miles from our shop, so we don't send a van for every single call. We go down most Tuesdays and Thursdays and line up Canton jobs back to back. We can't promise same-day out there. Call on Tuesday, though, and you'll often make Thursday's run.
Text us a photo of the damage and the last six of your VIN.
We send a firm price and put you on the next open route day.
The night before, you get a two-hour arrival window.
We need dry glass and about 20°F or warmer. When the forecast goes sideways, we bump you to the next route day, or you can bring the car up to the heated shop.
Types of Auto Glass Work We Do in Canton
Windshields on newer cars, calibrated
Most newer cars carry ADAS, the safety features that see the road through the windshield. After new glass goes in, the forward-facing camera behind the mirror has to be aimed again. A camera a hair off is an ump who moved home plate two inches: every call after that is wrong. We do static calibration with target boards in the shop, and dynamic calibration (a test drive with a scan tool plugged in) when the car calls for it.
RV windshields for Newton Hills campers
Motorhome fronts come two ways: a one-piece RV windshield or a two-piece RV windshield. Some are glued in with urethane, others sit in a gasket set, a thick rubber frame the glass snaps into. We've put glass in Tiffin, Fleetwood, Monaco and Holiday Rambler coaches, and the big ones get done at the shop.
Semi and grain truck glass
There's a steady parade of trucks on US 18. We do windshields on Freightliner Cascadia, Peterbilt 579 and Kenworth T680 cabs, and a lot of them have split glass, so one side can be swapped by itself.
Chip repair on the route
Filling a chip takes us about 20 minutes, so we fit them in between the bigger Canton jobs. Many policies pay chip repair in full under comprehensive coverage, and then you pay nothing at all.
What Should Windshield Replacement in Canton Cost?
Windshield replacement in Canton costs about $280 to $550 for a car without sensors, $650 to $1,400 with camera calibration, and $1,200 to $3,500 or more for an RV. Route-day visits cost the same as the shop, so you don't pay extra because Canton is farther out.

Upriver from Sioux Falls, we also cover Dell Rapids on the same kind of route-day schedule.
Most Tuesdays and Thursdays. We group Canton jobs on those days so the drive makes sense. Call early in the week for the best shot at Tuesday. If your crack is spreading fast or you can't wait, drive the car to our heated shop, about 30 minutes north, on any weekday.
Is there an extra charge because Canton is farther out?
No. A route-day visit in Canton costs the same as a job at our shop. The trade-off is timing, since we come on set days instead of whenever you call. Your price comes from your VIN and the glass your vehicle needs, not from the miles our van drives.
Can you replace an RV windshield at a Newton Hills campsite?
Usually not. An RV windshield is big and heavy, and setting one takes two or three people, level ground and still air. Most of them go in at our shop. If the motorhome really can't move, send us photos of the damage and the campsite, and we'll tell you honestly whether it can be done there.
What should I do with a chip until the route day?
Put a strip of clear tape over it so dirt and water stay out. Skip the car wash, close the doors gently and keep the defroster on low when it's cold. Most chips wait a few days with no trouble. If yours has already started running into a crack, call us right away.
Happy Customers!
What our customers say
Rock chip repair
A gravel truck on I-29 put a star chip right in front of me. They fixed it in my work parking lot on my lunch break and insurance paid the whole thing. You honestly can't see where it was.
Megan T.Southwest Sioux Falls
Windshield + ADAS calibration
New windshield on our Highlander, and they did the camera calibration right after. Lane assist works like it did from the factory. They called my insurance with me on the line, so it took ten minutes.
Brian H.Brandon
Back glass replacement
Somebody broke my back window over the weekend. Called Monday morning, it was in by Monday afternoon and they vacuumed every last bit of glass out of the seats.
Alyssa R.Tea
Windshield replacement
It was 6 degrees, so they told me to bring the truck to the shop instead of doing it in my driveway. Glad they did. No leaks, no wind noise, fair price.
